Partner of the Year:  Poudre School District

Congratulations to Colorado's Poudre School District (PSD), ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year.  Since the PSD Board of Education adopted an Energy Conservation Policy in 1996, Poudre has taken the matter to heart.  The District tracks all of its utilities, and notes changes on a monthly basis. In 2002, the District labeled 10 schools, showing a steady yearly increase in number of top-performing schools since 2000. In addition, the average score for their 47 benchmarked schools has risen from a 61
to a 66 in the past year, a district-wide reduction in energy use of seven percent.  Poudre communicates the importance of energy efficiency through their Energy Rebate program, which rewards schools that reduce energy by 10% or more, using the savings that they have helped to create.

PSD has also created nationally recognized Sustainable Design Guidelines to address energy efficient design for all new or remodeled facilities. By incorporating an energy management plan, along with staff and student support, PSD continues to provide fiscally sound and environmentally savvy business strategies as a foundation for its successful educational programs.
